    Grade 3

     

    Students in grade 3 attend computer class for 41 minutes once per week. 

    Software and hardware vocabulary is learned as well as the basic features of the Windows operating system. Students gain experience inputting and accessing text.
     
    Students learn appropriate keyboarding techniques with attention on keyboarding accuracy. 
     
    Students continue to create finished documents using word processing software. 
     
    The software is also used to practice math skills learned in the classroom.
     
    Students continue to learn how to research using the internet. 
     
    Students learn the skills needed to take the Parcc test and practice using the tools so they are comfortable taking the test.
     
    Additionally, students begin internet safety lessons.
     
    Each year students build upon their computational thinking skills as they participate in the hour of code during the month of December.
