Holiday Event Guidelines
Guidelines for Schoolwide Events
Based on safety precautions, food allergies, nutritional values aligned to state guidelines and what students are learning about healthy eating, the following will be adhered to:
Halloween: No food. Students can make a craft in class at the teachers' discretion. Parade at the end of the day. Students will be dismissed after the parade.
Thanksgiving: Not mandatory. Students in Kindergarten through 4th grade can have a curriculum-based event with one to two small items only.
Holiday: All students will enjoy pizza and water for their holiday event. Student may bring in non-food items to distribute to classmates at the end of the day.
Valentine's Day: Cards can be exchanged. No food or candy permitted.
End of Year Celebration and Field Day: All students will enjoy their end of year celebration with pizza and water at Field Day.
Birthday Celebrations: Students in PK through 4th grade may celebrate their birthdays with either mini cupcakes or mini muffins. Items must be store bought with ingredients listed. Please inform the school nurse and your child's teacher in advance of the event what you will be sending in for the children. The school nurse and teacher will approve items prior to distribution. Students will enjoy the small treats at the end of the day.
Due to food allergies, the district cannot share food from home with students.
